The city of Lucca is also home to the most exciting European event focused on comics, animation, role-playing games, board games, video games and fantasy games: Lucca Comics&Games. For the 50th anniversary of the event this past October, 500,000 visitors descended on Lucca along with some of the most famous comic books artists in the world. Both of these events take place inside the picturesque walls of the city, which have recently celebrated their 500th anniversary.
The Rolling Stones chose Lucca as the only Italian stop on the "Stones – No Filter" tour. For twenty years now, the city has held its Summer Festival, a popular event on the summer scene in Italy.
